kim jiwoong was born and raised by a humble family of three: his dad, his mom, and his granny, all of whom always had a close relationship with him. growing up was a smooth sailing ride for the most part, he'd say, having been showered with support and love from his parents, who are both well known scholars from well established universities, and his grandmother who tirelessly took care of him when his parents would be away from home.woong's affinity for helping people developed in early years of his teenhood when he volunteered with his grandmother to the local hospice. while kids his age played outside, he would be there working overtime to distribute food and helping around however he could. there, he met all sorts of people, old and young - including min doeul, a girl his age who was struggling with leukemia.their friendship started out rocky at first, but woong and doeul soon became the closest of friends, even to the point of becoming inseparable as a budding romance soon developed between them.merely fifteen and confused, jiwoong were not sure what his feelings really was about, and he concealed it, intending to keep it to himself to not ruin their friendship.
days became months, and months soon became years. jiwoong who busied himself with school soon showed himself less at the hospice, working twice as hard to ace his exams in order to pursue medicine. it was then that jiwoong decided on a whim to confess, when his results showed great promise, and he could tell doeul about his dreams of becoming a nurse, even a doctor to help her get better.... but he was merely a day too late. doeul whose condition unknowingly worsened over the months could not hold on longer, and passed away in her sleep the night jiwoong wrote a letter to her.it crushed him to pieces when the news reached his ears, and he would soon be ridden with self doubt and anxiety for the next few years of his life. things... stopped, abruptly. it's as if he existed no more, and all that is left of him is a shell of his former self.
self doubt around women. due to his past with doeul, his confidence around the opposite gender is significantly low. he's constantly anxious of not being brave enough for them, thus avoids romantic relationship with women, even though he still holds attraction for them.
completed his military service. at eighteen, jiwoong volunteered to serve the military in order to get his mind off the tragic death of doeul. he completed it just in time to enter university.
pursuing dreams... his plans to pursue medicine was put to a halt, even though he still wanted to go down the path where he's able to help people. he ended up taking a degree in social work.
prone to self isolating. as an only child, this is the only way he knows to relax, even though he does have a lot of friends. it's mostly because jiwoong's current work keeps him too busy to have an active social life.
owns too many cats. there were fifteen of them, now reduced to around eight over the years. jiwoong likes to feed the stray cats, and they in turn follow him home for more treats...
likes an ungodly amount of anime. this is how one could learn to bond with him, as he's very passionate about anime.
diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. he's a high functioning autistic. his condition is seen very obviously from his problem solving skills, and his high devotion to routines and order.

I love figuring out who someone really is or discovering the missing link that brings an incident to close. The feeling of knowing you have made a difference and helped someone far outweighs the long hours, intense calls, and stressful times.
